Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus

You've probably heard this quote a million times and thought this true too. The war between men & women has been going on for as long as anybody can remember. This post will not concentrate on everything this war compromises of, but will only concentrate on the aspect "color".

Working in a professional field where men dominate, I often have discussions about color-blindness with men and how they cannot differentiate between a soft baby-pink and a clearly bright shocking pink. No, I don't work in any fashion or artistic industry. I programme operating interfaces and I do think color schemes are important for customers who have to stare at a monitor for the better part of their day.

I remember conversations with my professors in college as well as school who refused to do experiments with color indicators declaring it difficult to argue with women about different shades of the same colors :D.

So when I received a mail from one of my colleagues the other day about color schemes, I thought I'd share it with you dear readers. Have a look and decide for yourself, how would you define different color-schemes?  :D

Lessons in Life

Good morning all you lovely people out there :)

It is a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning here in middle of nowhere and I'm sitting on my kitchen table just beside my window and sipping my morning cup of hot chocolate. Hm mm.....

Good Morning

Even though everything might seem perfect, it is not. I'm having a horrible week at work with lots to do and the deadline approaching on Monday. So to make my week even worse than it already was, I have to work today and probably on Sunday too. Life sucks sometimes :(

So as soon as I finish my cup, I'll leave for work. But before that I'd like to share a recent mail I received with you guys about some lessons in life. Somehow these words brought a smile to my face and I hope you enjoy them too. Wising everyone a nice weekend :)

 Lessons in Life

1)      90% of the problems, are due to the tone of voice.
It is not what you say,
but how you say, that creates the problem.

2)      Marriage is like a flute..
It may have several holes and emptiness.
The same holes and emptiness gives beautiful and melodious tunes, if you know how!

3)      End is not the end.
In fact E.N.D. is "Effort Never Dies" and if you get NO  in answer,
remember N.O. is "Next Opportunity".
So always be positive in life !!!

4)      The caliber of a person is not how well he prepares for everything to go right,
But, how he stands up and moves on after everything has gone wrong.

5)      Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble,
but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout.

Note: These lessons in life and the "Good Morning" Pic are not from me. Since I don't know who the original author is, I'd like to credit the Anonymous person here.

Sprinting home with DB

It was that time of the year. The time for my yearly holiday back home. I was looking forward to three weeks of pure bliss, two of which I will be spending at my home enjoying the company of my parents, brother and meeting my lovely friends. The middle week I will be going to back to my mother country where I will hopefully enjoy a week full of temples, backwaters, beach, yummy food, hindi/mallu/tamil movies and much more. To say I was excited would be an understatement. I was jittery and anxious about packing the right stuff, not leaving anything important behind and definitely looking forward to my ICE ride in a Sprinter from Berlin to my city.

I was lucky to be able to book a ticket in first class, which definitely had its perks. The Sprinter is super fast, reaching Frankfurt from Berlin in about 4hours 20 minutes and has almost all the luxuries of flying and similar service. There is a meal included which even though doesn’t compare to Lufthansa standard, but is definitely tasty enough to fill the hungry stomach. A slight disadvantage is if one is a vegetarian. Then the options are limited. There is a possibility to skip the complete meal and only go for a dessert and a roll or order something from the board restaurant. A salad ordered by a passenger sitting nearby seemed yummy. Unfortunately it came with a price as opposed to the non-vegetarian lamb with couscous, beans, cheese-filled paprika, roll with butter and vanilla pudding with cream. Free drinks were served twice, first time just before the meal and the second time just after. Options are Coffee, Black or Green Tee, Orange juice and water with varying degree of CO2. The only disadvantage of the free meal is that it is a bit cold. Tip: Order a hot beverage with your meal. This will definitely take the taste of your meal a notch higher. Unfortunately I was a bit late in identifying this but you, dear readers, should not miss the opportunity, were you to travel in similar fashion.

Traveling in first class also means traveling with white-collar gents and ladies. It is difficult to strike a conversation, as everyone is busy with their own laptops, cell phones, and other utility gadgets.

My fellow commuters

Free newspaper might keep you busy for half an hour but after that one can either spend the time sleeping, reading something one has got along, enjoying the beautiful scenery outside or writing a blog post like I’m doing :D

Writing my Blog Post with a glass of orange juice :)

Beautiful Sunset
Rushing past the countryside

Arriving at my destination I was surprised to find my whole family waiting for me at the railway station.Even my lil brother was there...isn't that an "awwww -moment".

The vacations could finally begin.... :D
P.S.: This Post was written at the starting of my vacation on 23rd Aug 2012. Due to lack of time this is being posted a little late

My favourite Summer Hits 2012

I love Music. Who doesn't?

Since I'm uncapable of sitting in a room of silence for more than a few minutes I'm constantly hearing some song or another. While travelling to work I hear the radio and while at home I'm on youtube or on one of the online radios.

So thinking about music, I thought what are my favourite sommer hits this year, what has been playing constantly on my playlist either on youtube or on my phone. So here are my top 4 in random order:

  1. Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
  2. Owl City feat. Carly Rae Jepsen - Good Time
  3. Romano & Sapienza feat. Rodriguez - Takata
  4. Flo Rida - Whistle

As far as Bollywood music is concerned, I'm totally loving all songs of Ek tha Tiger and Cocktail. The tracks Banjaara, Mashaallah, Tumhi ho Bandhu and Daru desi have been heard a million times by me :)  A new track in my "all-time-favourite" list is the song Paani Da from the movie Vicky Donor. If you haven't seen this movie yet, then you should definately watch it. Great fun!!!

So what are ur favourite summer hits?

Blank...

I was sooo excited to start this blog. Before (starting this Blog) I had thousands of thoughts & ideas I wanted to write about. At night, before going to bed, I'd think of all the things jumbled in my head I would like to write about if I had a Blog. And now that I finally have a Blog, somehow all my ideas have gone on a holiday.

Brain on Holiday from http://www.365daysofdrawing.co.uk/

While searching for some pics to support my state of mind, I came across this Blog from Becky Gabriel. I’d like to categorize this Blog as an Art Blog.
If you like landscapes and fruit bowls and cute animal stills, this is the wrong place. But if you like fun pictures as well as fun posts this is the right page to read. ( I just scrolled through a few posts and I can already say that this girl is amazingly talented and extremely funny.)  I’m looking forward to add this to my must read Blog-List and would like to recommend it to others too. The pics are cartoons and I’m bowled over by the creativity in her posts.

Where do people get all their creativity from? This brings me back to my original problem: Writer's Block. So how do other Bloggers cope up with lack of ideas? Bloggers, who have been writing for years and years? I have just published one post and am already thinking of abandoning this Blog. But that wouldn't be fun and not me. So this post will be random rambling and hopefully by next post my brain will be back from holiday, well relaxed and ready to write.

So in this hope...wishing everyone a nice, relaxing Sunday :)

First Post - The Namkaran

My first post on this Blog...FINALLY!!! :)

I’ve been wanting to write one since I started my new job, but somehow I was always able to find one excuse or another…I'm the queen of procrastination. Seriously if there was a discipline in Olympic Sports in Procrastination, I'll probably get all golds. Or if it was a subject in school, I'll get all A's. I'm so good at it :D.

But now I have finally decided to pull up my socks and start writing.

I had a lot of trouble deciding a name for my blog. Since this won't be a theme related blog like about cooking or tech stuff I wasn't sure what to name it.
Ramblings or thoughts about day to day life are going to be my main topics. But the tag "rambling" was already taken by quite a few bloggers so my search was still going on till I decided to name my blog "http://scrapbook-carpe-diam.blogspot.de/".

Why this name? Well, I actually like the idea of scrapbook. It has something universal about it. It can be about anything and nothing. Little things that happen in my life, which I find interesting enough to blog about.
And Carpe-diam? Well for all people with spellcheck OCD, I know it's Carpe-Diem, which basically means "seize the day" or as I would like to interpret it: "live life to the fullest".
My blog says diAM for a reason. Dia is my first name and M is the first letter in my last name. Clever, huh?

P.S.: For the uninitiated...Namkaran is an indian tradition where a new born is named. I consider this blog my baby, hence the title. A bit cheesy? Maybe. But I like it. :D
